The API® FTAR rotating drum filter is used (but not exclusively) in reclamation and irrigation facilities. It is suitable for filtering untreated water where the solid content is made up of foliage, small material and detritus, which cannot be intercepted by the bar grills, typically installed upstream. In the drum filter the filtering panels, removable and in stainless steel, with free passages from 200 μm to 5 mm, are fixed on a rotating cylinder (drum). Through gravity and with the slightest difference in height, water passes through the mesh from the outside towards the inside of the drum, leaving the retained material on the surface, which is then removed by backwashing and the use of pressurised water jets. The operation of the drum filter machine is electromechanical by means of a gearmotor with a pinion which acts directly on the crown gear mounted on the rotating drum. The machine frame is hot-dip galvanised for outdoor installation, while the drum is painted with epoxy treatment.
